ACADEMIC STANDARDS POLICY

Vanguard Academy Academic Standards Policy exists to help students reach their academic potential and maintain an expected level of academic performance at the institution.

Vanguard CE and Academic Advising department will identify students who are in academic jeopardy and will notify them of their status. The policy focuses on active intervention with students who demonstrate academic difficulty and provides support services necessary to encourage their potential success.

Description
-9th Grade Students are expected to have a GPA of 3.8 or higher to participate in Concurrent Enrollment at
Vanguard Academy

-10th Grade students are expected to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to participate in CE at Vanguard Academy

-11th-12th Grade students are expected to have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher to participate in CE at
Vanguard Academy.

-Students should be 15 to participate in Concurrent Enrollment at Vanguard Academy, For those rare and exceptional circumstances in which a student under the age of 14 has exhausted all educational resources at the secondary level, is motivated, and is academically and socially prepared to engage in college level coursework, this form can be used to petition for participation in concurrent enrollment coursework. Students who are 14 before the first day of the semester may apply for CE with Advisor Permission, providing all GPA requirements have been met.

PROCEDURES

The Academic Standards Policy is implemented through Academic Advising and coordinated by the academic advisor. Academic Advising is responsible for developing procedures for identifying and notifying students whose GPA fall below the specific level and for developing interventions to assist students. The academic standards guidelines outline the specific protocol.
